GREEN REBATES: Get Cash Refunds When You Go Green

12 October 2011 No Comment

Right now there is a cool way for people to be encouraged to become more environment-friendly as to their lifestyle– green rebates. Yes, that’s right. People don’t have to worry about spending too much when they go green because there are now cash incentives that are being offered whenever a person decides to build or remodel a property with greener alternatives rather than the typical choices. And it’s noteworthy to say that even governments and some companies are joining the advocacy of going green by also offering rebates and other incentives to those who decide to take part in utilizing greener resources. As a matter of fact, here are some programs and incentives that you might enjoy when you go green.

National Tax Incentive
On the national level, you get to be excluded from paying taxes for those rebates that you got when you did energy efficient conversions for your home. Another program of the government on green rebates includes granting of tax credits that are deducted from the amount of tax you owe for making energy improvements at home, including those that involved repairing and remodeling. Aside from that, you also get to have tax credit when you get solar energy installations like solar water heat and solar fuel cells. Residential builders on the other hand, get to have as much as $3,000 worth of rebates for each of the house that they built, as long as it has met the specific guidelines and goals of going green.

State Tax Credit
In some states, you also get to enjoy rebates or be exempted from paying state sales or use tax when you buy renewable energy systems. These systems refer to those that make use of solar, wind and other renewable energy sources instead of using the traditional power sources such as electricity and gas.

State Rebate Program
There are also some states where you can be considered for a rebate program if you install a solar hot water heater or a solar pool heater. The rebates that you can get depends on the wattage rating of your system.

Utilities Pitch in with Rebates
Furthermore, you can also be able to get cash rebates when you choose to replace your existing equipment with a more energy efficient one in your home. The rebate that you can get also varies according to the appliance and system that you have replaced or the type of conversion that you did. But if you are interested to qualify for even more rebates and incentives, you can actually avail of that when you’re building a new home or structure.

With the green rebates that are being offered everywhere, nobody can say that going green is a  hassle as it is expensive.  There are so many benefits that you can get when you decide to be an advocate for the environment. So, it is time to go green now and take advantage of those green rebates.
