Tips for conserving water in the kitchen

19 December 2008 No Comment

Not all of us live in a tropical area, which means that there are some who are unfortunate to have a problem when it comes to finding water sources and conserving it due to shortage of distribution.

This becomes more of a problem when summer comes, when the need for water becomes greater, but the supply stays the same.

It is then up to us to make use of water wisely and efficiently, and probably even save some from our already insufficient supply. Below are some tips for you to follow in conserving water in the kitchen, where water is used a lot for cooking and washing needs.

1. Don’t use running water when washing the dishes. Instead, use a bowl to get all the water from when you rinse dishes. This can be used later on for watering the plants.

2. For those who have dishwashers, wait until you have a full load before washing the dishes. And also, don’t be lazy and scrape the excess food from the plate before you load it into the dishwasher. This way, it uses less water.

3. Wait also until you have a full load before washing your dirty clothes so you will use less water.

This conservation tips not only should apply to those people in the areas where water is relatively insufficient, but for everyone in all areas. All of us are responsible for the conservation and protection of our environment anyway.
